About this Issue: Spring 2026

What exactly is a pro-life journal? This is more than a practical question for our editors; it bears crucially on our shared identity as prolifers, the strategies used to convince others about the inherent dignity of human life and the dire need for protections, and the unity of our efforts. ... ABORTION, VIOLENCE, AND POLITICS

Sadly, death by abortion has always been around. In the ancient world, abortion was prevalent enough that the Hippocratic Oath had to be composed and administered to guide medical doctors away from taking innocent, preborn human lives. In our time, abortion has been capitalized, commercialize... The post ABORTION, VIOLENCE, AND POLITICS appeared first on The Human Life Review .

Robots and Clones and Humans

The Human Life Review has a long-standing interest in identifying and encouraging pro-human influences in our culture. I think of them as signs that in the long run, reality comes through. To be anti-abortion or anti-euthanasia, for instance, one has to put ideology ahead of reality. What I m... The post Robots and Clones and Humans appeared first on The Human Life Review .

Columnist Claims Biden Wasn’t Pro-Abortion Enough

Was Joe Biden insufficiently pro-abortion? That would seem to be Carlos Lozado’s conclusion about the former president. Writing in the New York Times last week, he suggests Democrats lost the presidency in 2024 because they were stuck with Biden, who was not pro-abortion enough. Apparently i... More Than a Clump of Cells

I beg the indulgence of my prolife readers as I navigate some twists of Christian theology to make a point about our shared affirmation of the personhood of the child in the womb. All Christians observe some form of celebration of “the Lord’s Supper,” what looks like a sharing of bread... The post More Than a Clump of Cells appeared first on The Human Life Review .

Jessica Kern’s story | “We want to know who gave birth to us and what they are like.”

My name is Jessica Kern. I am a product of a traditional surrogacy. This is where a surrogate is hired to both donate her egg and carry the child to term… As a product of surrogacy I can tell you firsthand what we children of donor conception go through. Children of surrogacy, just like children of a traditional adoption, deal with all the traumas that go along with adoption. We want to know where we come from. We want to know who our biological mothers are. We want to know who gave birth to us and what they are like. We are curious about their family and other siblings we may have. I spent th

Brian C.’s story | “I don’t care why my parents did this. It looks to me like I was bought and sold.”

My name is Brian and I am the son of a traditional surrogate, a biological father, and an adoptive mother. I think all of you here need to know how I feel about surrogacy. I have read a certain popular surrogacy board since I was 16 and I am almost 18 now. I was going to wait until I was 18 to open my mouth but I just can’t stand reading all of this stuff anymore. It was something in one TS’s post that really set me off. And it was not just her, it’s everybody attitude. “if you go into this feeling that this is “your” baby then you should not be a TS. This baby is NOT yours. It is your egg don

The Logic of Abortion

Love must be learned. Which is why there is no better example of love in our world than that of mothers, who both love and learn to love by giving themselves to another—often at great cost. It is also why pro-choice culture is so deeply destructive. For a culture that is all about me is a culture th... The post The Logic of Abortion appeared first on The Human Life Review .

A Tragedy in Georgia Needs a Federal Response

A Georgia woman who was about 22 or 23 weeks pregnant ordered abortion drugs by mail, which are only authorized for use up to about 10 weeks, and after taking the drugs, her baby was delivered alive but died about an hour later due to damage from the drugs. Local law enforcement arrested the mother on murder and drug charges, but the legal landscape is complicated by Georgia laws that protect mothers from prosecution for harm to their unborn children, and the federal government has not enforced the Comstock Act, which bans mailing abortion drugs, contributing to ongoing risks from mail-order abortion pills.
